I wonât attempt to tell you how much of a inspiring man Mandela was, itâs been done far better by most news outlets around the world. 223. not some trauma or life-turning event⦠just part of my childhood, my growing upâ¦So guys, that was my experience and thoughts on the matter.I have read this poem virtually everytime when I have felt dead and felt that I cannot stand up to battle againâ¦the depiction is beautiful but there is something hauntingly magical in the last three panels⦠I cannot put it down in words but yes there is somethingâ¦It could have been nice if the ending was non-violent but here it is about pure rage, standing up to something that is wrong⦠and that steely gaze in his eyes in the second-last panel defines that⦠It is a very well made strip⦠there is a story beyond the cartoon⦠I am glad you did it⦠i read this particular strip once in a while when I am writing a news story regarding terrible things and how people stand up against all odds⦠(and more often than not always win)â¦thank you once again for it⦠it is wonderful and continues to give me a reason to stand up and fight back again and again,I just want to thank you for making this comic and opening my young eyes to the wonders of the universe and life. Iâm not ashamed of the first one, this Mandela adaptation gave me a chance to tackle the poem again and in the two years since I did the first version, the comics and learning about all the people whose words Iâve worked on have changed me into a more open-minded person, someone who wouldnât draw a boy bludgeoning enemies with a hammer. Bravo!!! You made me cry, once more. I think You put a great deal of exertion to make this article. A brilliant tribute to an true icon. )It is probably strait as in âof limited spatial capacity; narrow or cramped; close, strict, or rigorousâ the pretty much archaic and unused version of the word! This is my latest replica Patek Perpetual Calendar watch and one of the Patek Philippe fake watches that has a lot of complications. I didnât intend to turn this great poem into a joke â I think one of the morals is standing up for yourself no matter what life throws your way.I agree with Cam on this oneâ¦I love this poem and I seriously dig zenpencils, but this comic completely misses the point.
Excellent strip Gavin, although I didnât expect to see the âbloodyâ violence panel, although agree that it would be messy.I hadnât actually seen any of the Batman you refer to with the main bully; when I saw the teeth, I was reminded of the Hessian Horseman from Tin Burtonâs Sleepy Hollow. On the comic strip I see a good clear example of that.We tend to say âlife is not so simpleâ but sometimes it is!!! Let us remember Madibaâs name with great honor and celebrate all who worked with him to end that great injustice.This adaptation is much better representation of the Poem.
But for me the last pane gave a completely negative connotation to the beautiful thought. That you have visually combined Mandelaâs story with the poem that saw him through his tribulations â is genius and a great representation of what comic art can do.I was interested to see that Mandela, in the comic, appears so small ⦠âhe was a tall man,â I thought, âhow could this be?â Then I realized he was one person against an utterly monumental and insane construction, Apartheid, and this one man spearheaded the movement that brought Apartheid to its knees and humbled those who supported it. You make great cartoons but sorry to say, you surely goofed this up.Difference in circumstance, mate. But, then again, neither was the beating.Wow, this is adorable and moving at the same time.
Great job. Your first version, in my very modest opinion, did not quite do it justice and with this beautiful comic you completely captured its essence.So glad thereâs a book with your work coming next year, I hope itâll be available in Sweden (or somewhere online that ships here).
