A survey of 15,000 adults across Europe, North America and Asia, published earlier this year, showed that 83% believe their purchasing choices can help to address environmental challenges – and 61% would drop a brand or product if it had poor environmental credentials.As well as running its own events, LWARB is encouraging organisations and individuals to get involved by running their own activities during the week.
In June 2017, LWARB launched its Circular Economy Route Map to accelerate London’s transition to become a circular city. This was produced in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. The LWARB said transitioning to a circular economy could cut London’s waste by 60%, with the built environment, food, textiles, electrical and plastic sectors all benefitting.
The support includes analyses of value chains to identify applicable circular strategies.
In recognition of the growing appetite for action on climate change and the circular economy, the first global Circular Cities Week takes place this week (28 October – 3 November).
More than 85 companies have signed up to support the UK Plastics Pact in the past year, a collaboration bringing together businesses to help change the way we manage plastics.
