The zoo’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting. The Sierra Safari Zoo will be open from April 1 through Oct. 31. The Camels... oh the camels they looked pitiful. They have a camel there that was disturbingly old/injured/both. This is a small zoo, but it has a good assortment of animals for its size. When I went to this zoo I was NOT NOT happy seeing these animals suffering in the HOT weather.

We were told on the website they had around 300 animals... not even close more like 50 or less which is a good thing because I am guessing a lot of their animals probably died from the absolute horrible conditions.
The zoo has brought delight and education to people in the Reno area since 1989, attracting an average of 25,000 people each year to visit the facility’s 120 animals, including baboons, lions, tigers, cougars, reptiles and birds. I don't doubt that the owners are financially doing their best in providing for these animals, but the reality is that their best is not enough. These animals are stuck in tiny cages and can't even run. Admission prices for this season have not yet been announced. The animals are very engaged especially if you feed them snacks that you can buy at the front.

Barely any shade for the animals for summer time, almost no signs to show what animal was supposed to be in the cage. I actually preferred it over larger zoos because you can see the animals more up close. The weather is getting warmer; the trees and flowers are blooming; the days are getting longer. I read some posts that people wrote saying they wish this place was shut down and then all the animals would be sent to animal Ark... A place that actually knows how to care for animals and put them in a natural type environment where they can run, play and have shade. The fundraiser is being held at the Kerak Shrine Temple, 4935 Energy Way. What's even more expensive is the amount of food each animal consumes, plus the care and The Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary is closed to the public for the winter and will re-open on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Admission is $12, which I think is reasonable when you consider the food and medical expenses for all these.
