If you were to print out the thread it is over 200 pages long, and people with all different types of Sony Camcorders from all over the world and the thread has been going for about 4 years so it's not just a bad batch of cameras with the problem! Everything else works okay electrical.

I've had this infrequent code with my Sony GV-D1000 walkman video deck ever since I bought it back in January 2003. If you're using a memory card: Check if the memory card is inserted correctly. 2. take out tape and put back in Sony news in your inbox. If you're unfamiliar with the interior of the tape drawer it could be very hard to spot and rectify the problem.It would do no harm to try a cleaning tape but if you're going to have to buy one I'd take the camera to a local electronics repair shop first. If you have a Mini-DV head cleaning tape, try that first of all as there may be some kind of blockage/dirt around the tape mechanism. I got the C:31:22 error message and decided to get my laptop out to investigate. I also used a cotton bud sweeping mettal bolts and a round revolving object at the back of the cassette room which seemed to me the head of the tape but nothing changed. I've got the C 31:23 error on my handycam DCR HC14E. Only until recently, I Googled this code to find that others have ran into this same pesky problem with other Sony video devices.
